Artist Statement
Tseng Sze Sze is a recent graduate from the Academy of Visual Arts of Hong Kong Baptist University, specialising in Chinese art and currently works primarily with mineral pigment and calligraphy as her creation mediums. Building upon a foundation of contemporary meticulous-style painting, she incorporates techniques such as burning foil to explore the expressive potential of mineral pigments in terms of texture and colour. Her works retain the lingering charm of Eastern lines while also integrating Western visual vocabulary, pushing the boundaries of traditional media. Her creation often stems from personal experiences and emotions; through the layering and traces of materials, she conveys the warmth of time and the brightness of life, guiding viewers to feel warmth within beautiful moments from daily life.
